PhonoLex — Phonological Analysis Toolkit
PhonoLex is a phonological analysis and corpus-retrieval platform for
speech-language pathologists, phonological researchers, and language educators.
It covers 125,000+ English words with phonological data and in-house
psycholinguistic norms, and offers a free public REST API.
The interactive app requires JavaScript. With JavaScript enabled you can build editable therapy packs in the Materials Editor — seeded from curated speech-sound targets, exported as picture-card PDFs, scoring worksheets, or CSV — plus six tools:
- Word Lists — build target lists by phoneme pattern, SLP-curated property filters, CV shape, and sound similarity.
- Text Analysis — analyze passages with phoneme highlighting and percentile statistics.
- Contrast Sets — minimal pairs, maximal opposition, and multiple opposition.
- Lookup — a word's full phonological and psycholinguistic profile, associations, and phoneme features.
- Sentences — curated corpus retrieval by phoneme, CV shape, frequency, and contrastive constraints.
- Speech Analysis (Beta) — a narrow transcript and per-position deviation overlay for a spoken word.
